For re-submission or an original proposal, what are you looking for to "get it right" and "get it into the right hands?"

There is not silver bullet. You need to primarily address any concerns/ comments from reviewers in the summary statement that you received. These need to be addressed in the 1-page introduction. Another suggestion is to evaluate whether it was the right Institute or Center for you; i.e. have you gauged their interest and research priorities? I assume you have discussions with some NIH program staff before you applied – that is highly encouraged and can be very informative in helping you identify where your application would get the most enthusiasm and appropriate expertise during review. All program contacts are listed in the omnibus solicitations on our web. Any interest expressed by an Institute/ Center should be relayed in the cover letter that the Center for Scientific Review (CSR) receives and helps them make the best assignment for review of your application.
